It’s settled! Tim Tebow has put the rumors that he’s speaking at the Republican National Convention to rest. The NFL star shared a Facebook video on July 14 of himself in which he denies the claim that he’s going to speak at the RNC for Donald Trump — WATCH here.
Tim Tebow, 28, uploaded a video to his Facebook page, addressing the reports — which senior advisers from Donald Trump‘s campaign confirmed — that he would be speaking at the convention. “Just got back from the Philippines, and I wake up this morning to find out that I’m speaking at the Republican National Convention,” Tim said in the video. “It’s amazing how fast rumors fly, and that’s exactly what it is: a rumor.” That’s a relief, because the Internet was sent into a frenzy when they thought he was speaking at the RNC.
“My goal has always been to be able to make a difference in the biggest way possible,” Tim added in the clip. “If one day, it’s the political realm, that’s what I’ll do. But right now, I really believe that it’s through my foundation and our amazing partners and fighting for kids who can’t fight for themselves.” Good for you for not taking a side, Tim!
The New York Times reported that Tim would speak at the RNC in Cleveland on July 21, and be joined by billionaire Peter Thiel, 48 and countless other notable Republicans, but the news was met with outrage by fans on Twitter. “Tim Tebow isn’t helping his career by speaking for republicans…He’s digging himself an even deeper hole,” @SayFacial23 tweeted. “If Tim Tebow announces support for Donald Trump at the RNC I will lose whatever respect I had for him,” user @Whit_Moore agreed. Well, everyone can rest easy, because it’s not happening!
