Gwen Stefani put an edgy twist on her classic beauty look when she took the stage for her ‘Today’ show summer concert. With her signature bold red lip intact, Gwen sported a high ponytail that went from platinum blonde to black ombré. Get the details on her look and let us know if you love it or if you think it’s just bananas.
Gwen Stefani, 46, took a break from her US tour on July 15 to stop by the Today show in NYC. Braving the heat, Gwen wore a black and sequin accented bodysuit with jeans as she performed her new song “Misery” and old favorites like “Sweet Escape” and “Hollaback Girl.”
Since hair and makeup are always the most important part of her look, Gwen went for a bold look despite the early morning performance. Wearing her signature cherry red lipstick, Gwen’s makeup artist, Gregory Arlt, amped up her makeup even further with a black cat eye, bold brows and long lashes.
Then, there was Gwen’s hair, which we have mixed feelings about. Hairstylist Danilo pulled Gwen’s hair up into a sleek ponytail with a slightly volumized bump at the top.
In the back, Gwen’s hair was looped through into a knot at the hair elastic and left in a long ponytail that included a dramatic black color blocked look. While we prefer Gwen’s all platinum locks styled into Old Hollywood waves, she seems to be a fan of the ombré effect since she’s worn the style several times before.
