Things aren’t going to get easier for Elliot any time soon. Elliot is going to ‘struggle a lot’ over the course of season 2 of ‘Mr. Robot,’ the show’s EP reveals. Darlene will also be struggling, and we’ll see a more ‘vulnerable’ side to her!
Mr. Robot season 2 premiered July 13 on USA, and the show is crazier than ever. So what’s next for Elliot (Rami Malek) and our other favorite characters? The show’s EP Chad Hamilton previews Elliot’s internal “struggle” and Darlene’s “overwhelming” arc. “We’re going to see Elliot struggle a lot internally,” Chad told our sister site Deadline. “The idea that Mr. Robot is a figment of his imagination and based on his relationship with his deceased father is a crazy struggle; Elliot is doing a lot of self exploration.”
Mr. Robot ended its first season with the bombshell reveal that Mr. Robot (Christian Slater) is actually dead. Fans were blown away by the crazy twist that no one saw coming. There’s a lot to unravel about Elliot in season 2, and it looks like fans are going to get the answers to their questions.
Elliot’s sister, Darlene, will also be grappling with personal issues this season. “The world is crumbling and falling apart and there are dire consequences that she’s the root of,” star Carly Chaikin, 27, revealed. “Last season she was this unstoppable, untouchable, don’t-give-a-sh*t person and this season we see her more vulnerable side, masking the doubt of what she did. It’s an overwhelming situation.”
Darlene’s separation from Elliot also doesn’t make her situation any easier. “She also feels alone because Elliot isn’t there… She’s keeps getting more isolated from her brother. All she wants is to be with him.”
