North West never met her late grandma, Kanye West’s Mom, but that doesn’t mean she’s been forgotten! In fact, North apparently has a strong desire to spend time with her grandma — so much so that she asked if she could visit her in heaven on what would’ve been her 67th b-day!
Twitter saw Kanye West, 39, in rare form on July 12 when he tweeted a SUPER emotional tribute to his late mom on what would’ve been her 67th birthday. And although Donda West passed away nine years ago, she will most definitely never be forgotten. Even Kanye’s three-year-old daughter, North West, thinks about her grandmother, and, according to the rapper, even asked if she could fly to heaven to meet her! Talk about heartwarming!
“Nori asked if the airplane could take her to heaven to see you for your birthday,” Kanye tweeted on the evening of July 12. “I love you mom,” he added. SO sweet! In addition to his touching sentiment, the “Famous” creator also shared a throwback pic of himself and his mom.
Donda, who was only 58 when she passed away, tragically died in November 2007, just one day after undergoing elective plastic surgery procedures. And even sadder, Kim Kardashian‘s, 35, husband considers himself responsible for the loss of his beloved mother.
In an interview with Q magazine in June 2015, the Grammy-winning artist was asked what he’s sacrificed in his life for his massive level of success. And his response was devastating. “My mom,” he said matter-of-factly. “If I had never moved to L.A. she’d be alive…I don’t want to go far into it because it will bring me to tears.” How heartbreaking!
The “Life of Pablo” lyricist most recently honored his mother at his Yeezy Season 3 fashion show in November by wearing a gray t-shirt that featured the airbrushed photos of his mother and his late father-in-law Robert Kardashian. Above both pictures were the words “in loving memory.”
And just one day before Kanye posted the latest tribute to his mom, the rapper gave his wife a major shoutout on Twitter as well. “I am very proud of my wife for her Forbes cover story,” he wrote along with an image of the mag’s cover. SO sweet! We love this more sensitive side of Kanye.
Tell us, HollywoodLifers — how do you feel about Kanye’s adorable tweet about his daughter and mom? Pretty special, right?
