Holy moly! We need a minute to recover from Chance The Rapper’s incredible performance at the 2016 ESPY Awards. The 23-year-old paid tribute to his hero Muhammad Ali with his rendition of a new original song, and it completely blew us away. We have all the details, right here.
That was magical! Chance performed a new original song on the ESPYs stage on July 13, and it was so touching and full of passion it became one of the most memorable moments from the whole night! While his performance alone was awesome, the fact that he made it a tribute to Muhammad took it to a whole other level and became that much more powerful.
As photos and quotes from the boxing legend played in the background on the vast stage, Chance stunned us by singing, not rapping, a new original song he wrote to honor him. We had no idea Chance could sing, but he was actually amazing! He appeared to be surrounded by twinkling stars as a band of trumpets and a choir filled out his performance.

Chance The Rapper was one of only two musical performances at the sports award show, and both were completely mind blowing. Andra Day also took the stage to sing her hit song “Rearview,” which fit perfectly with the inspirational aura of the evening. We’re obsessed! This ESPYs is shaping up to be one of the best ever.
