On the July 12 episode of Pretty Little Liars, the girls tried to cover up their mess after killing Elliot Rollins, and because of it, their relationships with their men ended up getting strained. Plus, Jenna returned!
The episode started out with Spencer (Troian Bellisario), Aria (Lucy Hale) and Emily (Shay Mitchell) digging a big hole to put Rollins’ body in. Alison (Sasha Pieterse) sat by the car in shock, and Hanna (Ashley Benson) remained behind the wheel of the car. That is, until she came over and started helping with the hole. Their plan was to make it look like Rollins went missing, so they went out of their way to make that happen.
While Aria helped break Alison back into the hospital, Caleb paid a visit to Spencer’s apartment. She didn’t let him in, so he confessed his undying love for her through the crack of the door. Sadly, Hanna was there and overheard everything. Literally, everyone was crying and it was so hard to watch. Our hearts were breaking for Hanna, but it also made us fall in love with Spaleb so much more!
Wait — and where did Alison go? She disappeared as Aria was checking to see if the coast inside the hospital was clear. When Aria eventually found her, Alison admitted she was scared of getting trapped inside again. She made Aria promise to come back and get her after all is said and done.
Once back in her room, Alison finally confessed what happened the night Charlotte died. Apparently, she told Charlotte about her relationship with Rollins, and that’s why Charlotte ran off to the church. And the reason why Ezra and Aria saw Alison run in the church was because she tried calming Charlotte down. And when she went to leave, someone killed Charlotte. Alison never told anyone because she feared the police would suspect her.
When Aria and Hanna returned to the scene of Rollins’ death, they discovered the car was missing! Don’t worry — it was just Mona. She took it to replace the shattered windshield. Yes, really. But Spencer jacked up the plan anyway, when she got drunk and almost had sex with a random guy at the bar, so she couldn’t follow through with her part.
Even worse — Mona alerted the girls of Rollins of the fact that he had a burner phone, so they started coming up with a plan on finding it. And as soon as they said Mary Drake must be Uber A, Jenna walked in! “Holy s***,” were the words that came out of Aria’s mouth. (Ours, too.) She said she’s back in town to celebrate Toby’s engagement, but the girls couldn’t help wondering if there was more to it.
Later, while Hanna was talking about her breakup with Jordan to Mona, she realized she lost her bracelet. And the last place she remembered having it on was inside Rollins’ car. Uh oh. Thankfully, they went to the train station parking lot and found it inside his car. And while they were at it, they also found his burner phone! It rang, and when Mona answered, it was Jenna (!) asking for someone named Archer. That must be Rollins’ real name, as Toby discovered Rollins had stolen a dead man’s identity. (Ironic, right?) And get this — his real initials are A.D.
