Going, going, gone! Eric Hosmer’s home run launched the American League to a 4-2 win over the NL and was good enough to earn him the Ted Williams MVP Award at the 2016 MLB All-Star game. Keep reading for all the details from the exciting game.
All the All-Star action went down in Petco Park, home of the San Diego Padres in sunny California. The National League battled the American League in the All-Star game with the home field advantage for the 2016 World Series at stake. Eric Hosmer and Salvador Perez know a few things about their old teammate Johnny Cueto and both blasted dingers off the Kansas City Royals beast pitcher in the second inning of the All-Star game. The guys thanked Johnny for helping the Royals win an World Series by taking him yard. With one out, Eric drilled a 1-1 fastball over the left field wall for a 377-foot home run. Eric earned another RBI later in the game which was enough to get him the MVP Award and a new Chevy truck. Bravo Eric! Sal also knocked blasted a heater out to left field for a 365-foot homer.
Where else can you see the greatest baseball players in the game take the field at the same time? Ballers like Bryce Harper, Corey Seager, Mike Trout and Cole Hamels all answered the call to represent their teams in the battle during baseball’s All-Star break. It was David Ortiz‘ final All-Star appearance and the crowd certainly showed the future hall-of-famer love. Despite some late game swings for the fence by the National Leaguers, the AL was simply too strong and ended up on top 4-2 to secure the home field advantage in the World Series. Well done boys.
