Gotta catch ’em all! Pokémon GO has quickly become the latest fan craze throughout the world, and people are venturing all over to get ahead in the game. So to help, we’re letting you know where to find all the important Pokéstops NEAR you!
It’s Pokémon fever all over again. The new GPS-driven app Pokémon GO, which was released on July 7, is so popular it’s even giving Twitter a run for it’s money. People are heading to bizarre places to find Pokéstops, like – churches and statues – where major scores like Pokéballs, snacks and remedies for wounded Pokémon exist. Luckily, we’ve got the details on how to reign triumphant.
As you move around, driving or walking — different and more types of Pokémon including Abra, Squirtle and more will appear depending on where you are and what time it is. So what’s the secret? Well, according to Buzzfeed, one way to find Pokéstops is to utilize a map from an older game called Ingress (which is of course produced by the very same company, Niantic Labs). Ingress is more of a scavenger hunt based game, where the user seeks to find holding “portals” also using a real-life based map.
Although Ingress reportedly had a much smaller following, several people still posted spots that they thought were cool, which became portals in the game. The very same portals have now turned into PokéStops, which explains why the Starbucks, 24 Hour Fitness, or historical monument by your house may also appear. So the good news is the global map is available online, but you do need to download the app in order to unlock more secrets.
Another tidbit of necessary information is that you should zoom in on the blue and green dots signaling locations. Otherwise, your screen will instantly be flooded with so many points you won’t know where to go. The several dots on Ingress will likely be a little different than on Pokémon GO, however it’s definitely a set of golden guidelines to get you ready for battle!
