It had to be and it was written in the stars! Andy Murray needed no time at all to secure his second Wimbledon title, sweeping aside Canadian Milos Raonic on July 10 in front of a packed centre court crowd. Click for the match details!
Andy Murray, 29, showed why he’s one of the UK’s greatest ever tennis players with a stunning win at Wimbledon on July 10 to secure his second title at SW19. The Scottish star beat Canadian tennis pro Milos Raonic, 25, beat his competitor 3-0, and boy was he delighted!
The path for winning Wimbledon was open to Andy after Novak Djokovic made a surprise exit in round 3. The Serbian had won the tournament two years in a row, and was expected to run Andy close. But as soon as he was gone, it was Andy’s to lose!
Anyone who couldn’t get the hot ticket for Centre Court, crowded on Murray Mound to cheer on the star. They would’ve seen Andy dominate the first two sets, playing some excellent tennis and hardly breaking sweat as he got Milos working around the court, hitting him with 10 backhand winners before the second set was even over. In the end he breezed the first two sets 6-4 and 7-6.
Andy came out of the blocks at such a fast pace that Milos couldn’t keep up and was being blown away by the World Number Two, who was clearly a superior player. That said Milos, who stands at 6’5″ was always a threat with his serve being such a powerful guy. It’s easy to forget he was once ranked fourth in the world back in 2015. He’s no slouch, that’s for sure.
