What a vicious fight that was! Miesha Tate and Amanda Nunes went toe-to-toe in the Octagon with the UFC bantamweight championship on the line at UFC 200 on July 9 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Congrats to Amanda for winning the epic battle in what was a hell of a fight!
And we have a winner! It was an epic fight at UFC 200 between Miesha Tate, 29, and Amanda Nunes, 28, on July 9, but only one of these girls could be the victor. After a almighty bloody mess, it was Amanda that reigned supreme during the fierce contest and we had a new women’s bantamweight champ! Click down for the fight details!
The anticipation for this one was through the roof, with Ronda Rousey, 29, hoping to face the winner and retain the championship she lost to Holly Holm, 34, at UFC 193 back in November, 2015. She must’ve liked what she saw with these two ladies, because this brawl was epic!
In round 1, the girls threw some vicious kicks and punches, but neither could find an opponent. However, when Miesha slipped, Amanda hit her with a knee in the head. Miesha was in big trouble and was dazed. She was getting various blows to the face, and blood was trickling from her nose. It looked really messy as Amanda smacked her. They went to the ground and Amanda had her in a choke, and BOOM it was all over. We have a new champ, and the first Brazilian female champ! All over in round one!
Miesha versus Amanda was promoted to the main event on the fight card after Jon Jones was pulled from his fight against Daniel Cormier after violating UFC’s strict doping rules. It meant Anderson Silva had to drop in at the last moment, and that just wasn’t the right fight to sit top of the bill for UFC chief Dana White, which is why he made the change to the lineup!
“Miesha is the woman who beat the woman who beat the woman. She’s the champ,” Dana revealed in a press conference on July 7. “What she accomplished a few fights ago, you can’t disrespect that. She should be the main event. She deserves that.”
