For Miami Heat fans, Ray Allen’s 3-point shot during Game 6 of the 2013 NBA Finals will live forever in their memories. For one die-hard fan, that moment is now immortalized on her skin, as she got Ray’s shot tattooed on her arm! Click to see.
Ray Allen should be beaming with pride. The 40-year-old basketball star is a two-time NBA champion (with the Miami Heat and Boston Celtics), a 10-time NBA All Star and a future Hall of Famer. Yet, his greatest highlight might be the most colorful one, as a ride-or-die fan got his epic 2013 NBA Finals shot inked on her body in tribute!
“I personally think that the Ray Allen shot is the greatest shot in NBA History because of its significance and how it changed history,” Fiona Wong told ESPN. The Canadian fan had New Zealand tattoo artist Steve Butcher cover her arm with an massive (and honestly, gorgeous) image of Ray’s epic 3-point shot during Game 6 of the 2013 NBA Finals. With 5.2 seconds left in the game, his basket forced overtime. The Heat would go on to defeat the San Antonio Spurs in that game and in Game 7, ultimately winning the NBA Championship.
“No one can predict how things would’ve been if Ray hadn’t made that shot and the Spurs went on to win the title that year,” Fiona said. “Would LeBron [James] have left? Would Ray have retired?” She does have a point. LeBron returned to the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2014, ultimately breaking C-Town’s dry spell by winning the 2016 NBA Championship.
Fiona said she paid about $2,800 for the chance to immortalize Ray’s shot on her arm. Uh, wow. She also had to sit for 14 hours for Steve to complete his masterpiece. OUCH. Steve is known for travelling around the world to give fans the best sports tattoos. Maybe his next stop will be in Cleveland to ink up some Cavs fans with images of LeBron, 31, Kyrie Irving, 24, or Tristan Thompson, 25?
There may be some more Ray tattoos in the future. Though he sat out the past two seasons, Ray’s considering making a comeback, reports ESPN. He has reportedly reached out to both the Cavs and the Golden State Warriors. After seeing how the Dubs scooped up Kevin Durant, 27, from the Oklahoma City Thunder, Ray may think he’s still got some gas left in his tank. Steve better get his tattoo gun ready!
What do you think about Fiona’s tattoo of Ray’s incredible Game 6 shot, HollywoodLifers? If you were to get a sports tattoo, what would it be?
