So breathtaking. At Demi Lovato and Nick Jonas’ Orlando concert on July 2, they paid tribute to singer Christina Grimmie, as well as the 49 people who were killed at Pulse nightclub in June, by performing ‘Rise Up’ and asking everyone in the room to join them in prayer. Watch here.
Talk about a show-stopping moment. Demi Lovato and Nick Jonas practically had us in tears, as we watched their heartfelt tribute to the late Christina Grimmie, as well as the 49 people who were killed at Pulse nightclub in June. Demi and Nick joined forces with friend Andra Day, as they performed “Rise Up” and asked the audience to join them in prayer. Watch the video here.
Before the song, Demi invited another good friend, Hank, out on stage to lead the audience in prayer. Then, they belted out a beautiful rendition of “Rise Up,” which nearly had us in tears. And on the screen in the background were the names of all those Nick and Demi were paying tribute to — Christina Grimmie, as well as the 49 people who were killed at LGBTQ club Pulse.
So heartbreaking. Before the show, Nick and Demi also visited Pulse nightclub, where they took a photo with the staff. Plus, they invited 30 staff members to attend their concert at Amway Center that night, giving them a private suite to enjoy the show, according to TMZ. (See the pic in the gallery above!)
As HollywoodLife.com previously reported, former Voice contestant Christina Grimmie was shot and killed while performing at a concert in Orlando, Florida on June 10. Just a few days later, Omar Mateen went to Pulse nightclub and killed dozens of people. It’s obviously a heartbreaking time for Orlando, as well as the rest of the nation, but we’re happy to see Nick and Demi tried to put smiles on their faces again.

Our thoughts and prayers continue to go out to everyone who was affected by these tragic incidents.
