Hitting the gym is hard. We’re all balancing a bunch of things in life, including Malin Akerman, who is an actress, a mother, and a fitness enthusiast! She told HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY about her workout routine and her secret for getting motivated to hit the gym!
Malin Akerman, 38, has it all — a hit show: Billions, and an adorable son, but just like all of us, she needs to get motivated to work out! Watch her inspiring video and read our exclusive interview with her below!
“A lot of things,” motivate her to work out, Malin shared. “In general, the feeling you get from working out is obviously incredible. It’s hard to get motivated but once you start, you get on the right track. The thing is, if you have some fun outfits, [it helps to] get started. You know when you buy a new outfit, it motivates you to go out and show it off. I feel the same way with athletic wear. You get a nice outfit, it motivates you to go show it off, maybe fit into it better!”
Malin partnered with the new LG Sidekick, a unique attachment for any LG washing machine built after 2009, that is specifically designed to wash activewear with a special, unique setting. It also washes intimates or sports uniforms separately from your normal load. Double duty! It’s a smaller load, so it’s faster, saving time, energy and water.
Gym Motivation — Workout Tips With Malin Akerman From ‘Billions’
Three HollywoodLife editors actually went spinning with Malin (like a laundry spin cycle, get it?) in a class taught by Cyc Fitness founder Keoni Hudoba. It was the best workout ever!
Malin continued: “Thank God that athleisure wear is sort of the new trend…where fashion meets fitness. It’s okay and it’s kind of cool and accepted and it’s comfortable. I think there are a lot of ways you can transition from one to another. Luckily, I have a lot of my favorite pieces, which is what I like, which is why I’m happy. It’s amazing. As a mother of a three-year-old, running around after a three year old kid, I want to be comfortable!”
As far as her fitness routine, Malin told us: “I do love spinning, that’s actually my number one, is spinning. I love cross training. For the most part of the year, I live in California, so I do a lot of hiking. We have these beautiful canyons, It’s nice to get out. Yoga is a good one, too. That’s my laziest one. Because I love the way you feel afterwards. It’s just hard when you’re in it to keep those poses!”
Malin Akerman’s Workout — Diet & Fitness Tips
As far as what she eats, Malin says she doesn’t follow any particular diet or trend: “I’m not vegan. I like a little bit of everything. I feel like, everything in moderation. I mean, everything. I’ve never been a big diet fan, I think it messes with your metabolism. I eat healthy for the most part but I do indulge. I do [have] dark chocolate every day! I think it’s important to be happy. I think that ties in, as well, as an awareness of what you’re putting into your body. Mostly fresh produce and fresh meats and fishes — it feels good, you feel good and then, of course, I indulge in a little bit of everything!”
