All four judges have used their coveted golden buzzer on ‘America’s Got Talent’ season 11, so the stakes are even higher in week 5! Who’s going to pique the judges’ interests this time around? Another singer? Comedian? Magician?
Welcome to week 5 of America’s Got Talent season 11! This season we’ve already seen so many impressive acts; it’s only natural that every judge has pressed their golden buzzer. Even the notoriously grumpy Simon Cowell did it last week! We can’t wait to see who stuns next!
The week 5 competition starts out with adorable 18-year-old Ryan Beard. Ryan’s hilarious, and got the crowd pumped with his cute story about being homeschooled and having a tough time meeting girls. Ryan sings a hilarious song called “Ladies’ Man” that’s all about his struggles. “Don’t go to prom with your mom” is pretty catchy! Turns out, he’s not going to have any girl trouble after this! FOUR YESES!!
Now cue a montage of all the terrible magicians the poor judges have had to sit through! But Kaden Rockett and his beautiful sister/”special powers assistant” Nicole Rockett are maybe the most adorable magic act we’ve ever seen! The little magician saws his sister in half, and tells Simon he’ll put her back together if he goes on to the next round. Yep, he’s going through!
Thank god AGT did us a solid and fast-forwarded through all the horrifying clown acts. Nobody wants to see that, especially Simon, who sends all of them home because he hates them! He has a huge clown phobia, and it doesn’t get better when we finally get some face time with a man who decided to “come out of the clown closet.” Richie Esposito has tattooed his face to look like clown makeup, and has the act to match. Richie sings a terrible song called “Everyday I’m Jugglin'” and throws around confetti. Yeah…he’s going home.
The Throwings have the most daring and dangerous act of the night. The married couple are acrobats, and perform a high-flying stunt that once left her with a broken spine, scared she would never walk again. Standing up on a tiny platform, he throws her up in the air over and over again, as she flips and turns. Simon calls the exciting act “absolutely incredible!” They get four yeses!
How about the guy who claims he’s a competitive eater? Actually, he just chokes down gross things on stage like dog food and beef bile! Gross! He’s not going through, and neither is the dude who “paints with his tongue.” These aren’t as gross, or are horrifying, as Dan Meyer, the man who swallows swords. Wait, did he just pull a car around the stage attached to the sword down his throat? OMG! Four yeses for Dan!
Sofie Dossi, 14, is a contortionist, and will be a force to be reckoned with during this competition! She’s basically bending herself in half while balancing on her hands up on pedestals, eating an apple with her feet, and hitting a bullseye with a bow and arrow using her feet, over her head. Sofie is definitely the darling of this episode!
Christopher is a one man band, but don’t think he’s all alone up on that stage. Dressed in full Native American regalia, he drags out a contraption rigged with four other life-sized puppets. They’re the Village People, and he’s able to make his whole “band” sing and do the “YMCA” perfectly! Yes, he’s going through!
Brian Crum, who sang Queen’s “Somebody to Love,” grew up overweight, and struggled with bullying from that and being gay. He dedicated his performance to his mom, who has supported him throughout his entire journey. Simon calls him a “fantastic singer!” Well that seals the deal, no? Four yeses for the man Mel B “bloody loves!”
