This girl is on fire! Simone Biles, a 19-year-old American gymnast, has been killing it in meet after meet for the last three years, and since she just epically won her fourth P&G Championship, we figured we should all probably get to know her a little better. Catch up with five fast facts here!
Simone Biles, 19, cannot be stopped, and with her on the United States’ roster for the 2016 Rio Olympics, chances are looking pretty good for some major medaling in women’s gymnastics this year! This gal is definitely one to watch, and we’ve rounded up the most important things you should know about her — check it out here.
1. She rarely loses
Simone hasn’t lost an all-around in a gymnastics meet since July 2013! The 19-year-old took home her fourth U.S. national championship on June 26, making her the first female to win four all-around titles in over 40 years. NO BIG DEAL!
2. She skipped out on college
Originally, Simone gave a verbal commitment to UCLA in Aug. 2014, but she wound up deferring her admission so she could compete in this year’s Olympics. By July 2015, though, she forfeited her NCAA eligibility by becoming a professional instead — and it’s clearly paying off!
3. She’s not officially on the Olympic team yet
The final U.S. team won’t be revealed until July 10, but with Simone’s incredible success over the last few years, it’s pretty safe to say that she’ll be on that roster!
4. Her grandparents raised her
Simone and her sister were adopted by their grandparents. She was homeschooled for her entire secondary education.
5. She’s just like any other girl her age!
Simone has listed her favorite hobbies as shopping and hanging out with friends, and she loves shows like Pretty Little Liars and movies like The Hunger Games. SO chill!
