Kylo Ren may be the villain the new generation of ‘Star Wars’ fans are used to but they’re about to be reintroduced to his grandfather.
The rumors are true! Darth Vader will appear in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Of course, it was assumed we would see him since he was the main villain in the original 1977 film, and this one will take place between Episode III: Revenge of the Sith and Episode IV: A New Hope. And yes, James Earl Jones will be back to do the voice (and heavy breathing).
Now that we know he’ll definitely be back, thanks to Entertainment Weekly‘s new cover story, we have to wonder how big of a part he’ll be playing. “Darth Vader kind of looms large over the plot even when he’s not necessarily onscreen,” EW‘s Anthony Breznican told Good Morning America adding that Ben Mendelsohn‘s character will still be the primary villain. The mag also confirmed that Mads Mikkelsen will playing Felicity Jones’s father, “a scientist whose knowledge is sought by both sides.”
Rogue One will be based on the Rebels stealing the plans for the first Death Star just before the insanity we saw in the original Star Wars. Currently, the film is undergoing reshoots, that plan to end right before the Star Wars Celebration fan event in London on July 15.
Felicity Jones will play the lead, and will be accompanied by an A-list cast: Diego Luna, Forest Whitaker, Donnie Yen, Jiang Wen, Riz Ahmed, and a creature portrayed by Alan Tudyk. So, are fans ready to see the return of Darth?
“DARTH VADER IS BACK BITCHEEEEESSSS,” one Star Wars fan wrote on Twitter. Another added, “back in black to terrorize the Galaxy. Darth Vader is the sh-t. Rogue One is already better than VII, VIII, and IX combined. #starwars.” Well we have to say we’re pretty excited about the return too.
