OUCH, that had to hurt! With just 10.6 seconds left in regulation during Game 7 of the NBA finals, LeBron James was slammed to the ground — hard — and almost looked like he wouldn’t get back up. Watch the brutal fall here.
LeBron James, 31, finally gave Cleveland Cavaliers fans the championship they’ve been waiting years for on June 19, but he almost wasn’t able to finish the game! With a three point lead and just 10.6 seconds left to play, LJ was fouled and had fans totally worried when he didn’t get up right away. Rewatch the play here.
The Cavs’ forward was jumping in the air to make what would’ve been an epic dunk when he was slammed to the ground, landing right on top of his right wrist. He stayed face down for a few moments, and was then seen writhing in pain as trainers, teammates and coaches came by to see what was going on.
After he spent a significant amount of time on the ground, LeBron finally got up and was ready to continue the game. He started by heading to the free throw line for two shots, and looked incredibly disappointed in himself after he won the first. He made the second, though, making it a two-possession game, and the Warriors couldn’t come back in the short amount of time left.
The Cavs won the game 93-89, making it the first NBA Championship in the franchise’s history. Considering LeBron is from Cleveland, it’s been his goal to help win his hometown team the title, and now, the moment has finally come.
Naturally, the 31-year-old was totally overcome with emotion as the final buzzer sounded, falling to the floor as tears streamed down his face in front of a stunned Warriors crowd. Totally epic!
