Anton Yelchin’s friends, family and ‘Star Trek’ costars are reeling from his tragic death, and we’ve learned that the film’s producers are going to do the late actor’s memory justice and dedicate the film to him. Get the details right here.
Anton Yelchin lost his life in a freak car accident on June 19, and HollywoodLife.com has learned that one of the last movies he filmed, Star Trek Beyond, will include a tribute to him upon its release on July 22. Read on to see how the movie’s producers intend to honor Anton.
A source tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY that producers are going to memorialize Anton with the release of Star Trek Beyond. “For the movie, the people with the film are going to dedicate it to Anton,” the insider says, explaining that the tribute is likely to appear toward the end: “They are in the process of adding something to the credits to remember him.” That’s definitely a great way for the cast and crew to pay their respects.
The source adds that as Anton’s costars prepare to promote the movie, they’re keeping Anton in mind all the while. “The movie has unfortunately taken a somber turn and everyone expects to speak about Anton’s passing on any upcoming junkets and red carpets,” the insider says. It won’t be an easy road for anyone, of course, but it also gives the cast the chance to speak out about what Anton meant to them. John Cho, Karl Urban, and Zachary Quinto, have already shared tributes to Anton online, and messages have poured in from original Star Trek cast members, too, including a note from George Takei. Our hearts go out to Anton’s costars, friends and family during this difficult time.
I loved Anton Yelchin so much. He was a true artist – curious, beautiful, courageous. He was a great pal and a great son. I'm in ruins.
