Furthermore, director Drake Doremus told Variety, “Anton was one of a kind. Such an old soul who was one of the most sincere but also funniest people I have ever met. He taught me what being a humble and hard working artist is all about. His laugh was the best sound in the world, it was so contagious and comforting. He was always up to something to make you laugh especially if you were getting frustrated or being too serious. Anton changed my life in so many ways and I’ll never forget him. Everybody in the ‘Like Crazy’ family wants to send their love to Anton’s family on this incredibly devastating day. Laphroaig is in my glass my friend. Love you Anton.”
Anton clearly made a huge impact on his peers in Hollywood, especially Kat, whom he starred with in Charlie Bartlett in 2007. The outpouring of kind words is just incredible, but it’s also so very sad. Anton was incredibly talented and he’ll be sorely missed.
As we previously reported, friends found Anton pinned between his car and a brick mailbox, which is attached to his security gate, early Sunday morning, June 19. According to TMZ, police said the vehicle was still running, and in neutral, when they found Anton’s body. Authorities believe the car rolled down his driveway and pinned him against the brick mailbox. At this time, cops do “not suspect foul play.”
Anton’s rep told HollywoodLife.com, “Actor Anton Yelchin was killed in a fatal traffic collision early this morning. His family requests you respect their privacy at this time.”
Our thoughts continue to go out to Anton’s family and friends during this difficult time.
