Such a touching tribute. Beyonce took a few moments out of her concert in Detroit on June 14 to mourn the victims of the tragic shooting in Orlando just two days earlier by dedicating her song ‘Halo’ to them and their families. Watch here.
Beyonce, 34, took the stage in Detroit on June 14 for the first time since 49 innocent people were killed in Orlando two days earlier, and she made sure to honor the victims in front of her massive crowd. Watch the short, but very sweet, tribute here.
“This next song I’m going to do is about love,” she told the excited audience. “I’d like to dedicate it to all the family members who lost their family members in Florida.” From there, she went into a beautiful rendition of her hit “Halo,” and it was such a touching moment.
The 34-year-old was likely also mourning Christina Grimmie, 22, who was gunned down and killed while holding a meet and greet for her fans on June 10.
Obviously, Bey isn’t the first star to pay tribute to those who tragically lost their lives: Hundreds of celebs flooded social media with heartbreaking messages after the violent attack. And, of course, we’ll never forget the image of Lady Gaga with tears streaming down her face as she spoke to a crowd about the shooting on June 13.
Omar Mateen, who pledged his allegiance to ISIS during the attack, entered gay nightclub, Pulse, with an assault rifle and began shooting at everyone inside around 2 am on June 12. Eventually, police killed the terrorist in a shootout, but not before he completed the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history.
Of those injured, six still remain in critical condition, while others are slowly recovering in the hospital. Meanwhile, police are currently looking into Omar’s wife, Noor Zahi Salman, who may face criminal charges for failing to tell authorities what she knew about Omar’s plan beforehand.
