Yet another awful shooting has occurred, this time at a Walmart store in Amarillo, Texas. After gunfire was heard and at least one hostage was taken, the suspect was shot by the SWAT and is apparently dead.

The suspect of an active shooting situation at the Texas Walmart is dead, according to the Amarillo Police Department.
Per NBC Los Angeles, Officer Jeb Hilton at the Amarillo Police Department confirmed that an armed person took hostages inside the store, and that gunshots were fired, but no injuries have been reported by the police who went inside the store. Neither the identities nor conditions of the armed person and hostage have been confirmed.
Earlier, the Randall County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that “there is one person armed with a gun inside Walmart and at least one hostage”. It is being investigated as a “work-place violence situation”, and the shots have since ceased. Fortunately, police have confirmed that there were no gunshot victims prior to the suspect being taken down.
Residents have been urged to avoid the area as the investigation continues, and some nearby streets have been closed off.
