The man who fatally shot singer Christina Grimmie outside her concert in Orlando was reportedly a stranger, according to police. He had absolutely no known connection to ‘The Voice’ contestant when he murdered her.
The gunman who ended singer Christina Grimmie‘s life at the age of 22 on June 11 is reportedly a complete stranger, according to police in Orlando, Florida. Christina was fatally shot while signing autographs after her concert at Plaza Live in Orlando, and as far as law enforcement officials are aware, the beautiful singer did not know her killer. The gunman, who turned the weapon on himself after murdering Christina and ended his own life, reportedly has no history of violent or alarming behavior in the past.
The suspect is a 27-year-old white male, who is not from Orlando, Chief Mina said during the press conference. Police are not releasing his name at this time, but may reveal it later in the day on June 11 after talking to Christina’s family.
The gunman traveled to Orlando to commit the crime, according to Chief Mina; the department has learned that the gunman had plans to travel to Orlando from his original destination; they are keeping this place unidentified at this time. Orlando PD are currently going through his cell and computer to look for a possible motive since, again, they believe he was a complete stranger to Christina.
The gunman took two handguns, two loaded magazines, and a large hunting knife into the concert venue, which did not have any metal detectors. Chief Mina also spoke about Christina’s brother, Marcus Grimmie, and the bravery he displayed by tackling the suspect to the ground after the gunman shot his sister, and then shot himself.
