“So sad passing of @TheRealGrimmie. Beautiful member of #TheVoice family & true #Fighter. My heart goes out to her family, friends & fans. xo” Christina tweeted after learning of the singer’s horrific murder. Like the rest of us, Christina had just learned that Grimmie had been the victim of fatal shooting outside the Plaza Live venue in Orlando, Florida. She was signing autographs for fans after opening for Before You Exit, when a gunman walked up and shot her before shooting himself.
While Christina was not a judge on season six of The Voice (Shakira took over her seat that season), it’s clear that Grimmie left a lasting impression on the entire Voice family. She was a tremendous talent who rose to fame after shocking the coaches during her audition with an insane performance of “Wrecking Ball”.
Grimmie proved that Xtina wasn’t the only diva-worthy Christina to grace The Voice stage! She was so fantastic that she got all four chairs to turn around within just seconds of starting her song — although she ultimately went with Team Adam! After coming third in the prestigious competition, she had big plans for the future, and one day hoped to collaborate with Justin Bieber, 22.
Blake and Adam both expressed their love for Christina, and their shock at her sudden murder by a man who is suspected to have no known connection to the singer. “I’m stunned and disgusted and heartbroken that we lost that sweet little girl… Keeping @TheRealGrimmie family in my heart and mind,” Blake tweeted on June 11 after hearing the devastating news of Christina’s passing. Adam was stunned after hearing that she was shot (before her death was announced), posting a sweet pic of the two during happier days. We wish everyone at The Voice the best during this difficult time!
