Before Christina Grimmie passed away, her ‘The Voice’ coach, Adam Levine, wrote a heartfelt message to her on Instagram using a sweet picture of them together. Click inside to read what he had to say.
Adam Levine, 37, sent out a desperate plea to the universe to save his The Voice contestant and friend, Christina Grimmie, 22, before she died. The heartbreaking message he wrote for Christina will bring tears to your eyes, especially now that she’s gone.
“I’m sad, shocked and confused. We love you so much Grimmie. We are all praying hard that you can pull through this…this just isn’t fair,” Adam captioned a selfie of himself with Christina, likely taken during her time on his time during season six of The Voice in 2014. The picture shows both Adam and Christina during much better times, as they are both making slightly silly faces for the selfie camera. So sad.
Adam posted the picture and the sweet message after hearing that she had been shot on Friday night, June 10, while signing autographs for her fans after a show in Orlando, Florida. Sadly, Christina did not survive her gunshot wounds and passed away shortly after the attack. UPDATE: Christina’s killer has been identified. Details HERE.
When Adam found out the devastating news that Christina had been killed, he released a formal statement on to PEOPLE from himself and his wife, Behati Prinsloo. “[My wife] Behati and I are absolutely devastated and heartbroken by Christina Grimmie’s tragic death. Our hearts go out to her family. Christina was a natural, a gifted talent that comes along so rarely. She was taken from us too soon. This is yet another senseless act of extreme violence. I am left stunned and confused how these things can conceivably continue to happen in our world.”
Another The Voice judge, Blake Shelton, also reacted on Twitter after hearing the terrible news that Christina had died. “I’m stunned and disgusted and heartbroken that we lost that sweet little girl… Keeping @TheRealGrimmie family in my heart and mind,” Blake wrote, obviously as shocked and saddened as the rest of the world that she had been killed.
The morning after Christina’s devastating death, Orlando Police revealed that they had identified the shooter but were keeping his name confidential until they had a chance to speak with his family. However, they did share that they do not believe the killer knew Christina, and that they have reason to believe he traveled to Orlando to commit the heinous crime.
Orlando Police also revealed more terrifying details about the shooter, including that he brought two handguns, two loaded magazines, and a large hunting knife to Christina’s concert, where she opened for Before You Exit. Unfortunately, the venue where the concert was held did not have any metal detectors, which is how the killer was able to bring so many deadly weapons inside.
Our thoughts remain with Christina’s family, friends, fans, and The Voice family during this very difficult time.
