So heartbreaking! “Supergirl’ star Jeremy Jordan is rightfully concerned for his cousin Sarah’s well-being after she was shipped off to a ‘pray away the gay’ religious camp for bringing a girl as her date to the prom.
OMG, we can’t believe this kind of intolerance still happens! Jeremy Jordan‘s cousin Sarah was sent away by her parents to a strict religious boarding school just because she has a girlfriend, and the Supergirl actor is doing everything he can to help get her released. He set up a GoFundMe page to help her gain her freedom so she can live her life as who she really is.
Jeremy is giving big time attention to the campaign to free his relative as he tweeted out,” My cousin Sarah, like any other teenager, loves a shameless selfie… Its just sometimes hers includes another girl… You can’t see it, but the caption of the photo on the left reads “Merry Christmas from two kids in love.” It BREAKS MY HEART this sweet young girl whose only “issue” is loving another girl has been sent to a facility for “troubled teens.” News flash, folks, there’s nothing wrong with her.
Sarah took her girlfriend to a recent prom, which prompted her super conservative parents who believe homosexuality is a sin to send her away to a Christian residential facility called Heartlight Ministries, as originally reported by The New Civil Rights Movement. The star, who plays Winn Scott on the CBS series, says they will spend a full year trying to “pray the gay away” from his cousin.
Jeremy says that Sarah is being held there against her will and his extended family is trying to raise the money to pay lawyers to help Sarah gain her freedom. Four days after beginning the fundraiser, they were almost halfway to their $100,000 goal.
**Update June 9** Jeremy Jordan’s cousin, Sarah, has reportedly been released from the Heartlight Ministries facility, where she was allegedly being held against her will for gay conversion therapy, in East Texas!
There’s no word on why she was released, or where she has gone.
My amazing friends & fans, PLEASE help us save my sweet gay cousin Sarah who's trapped at a boarding facility in TX. https://t.co/mtVHMY1fdI

The actor and Broadway star revealed the ordeal that Sarah is going through, writing “Instead of being surrounded by friends and extended family who love and support Sarah for who she is, she’ll be isolated in a place where the fact that she is gay is treated as a sin and an illness. Instead of preparing for college and competing in the state debate tournament, she’ll be doing forced labor every day and enduring Bible-based ‘therapy’ for her ‘disease.’” OMG, this sounds to terrible, we hope Jeremy is successful in helping Sarah gain her freedom so she can live her life with whoever she chooses.
HollywoodLifers, do you think Jeremy is doing the right thing in helping his cousin?
