Man down! Tiger Woods is still suffering from a bad back and took to his website to announce that he is not up for golfing in the 2016 U.S. Open. What is going on with the struggling golfer?
One of the best golfers in the world, Tiger Woods, 40, will not be up for competing in the 2016 U.S. Open when the first round tees off on June 16th at Oakmont Country Club in Plum, Pennsylvania. What a bummer! It has been almost ten years since Tiger last scored a major win and he will not be in the running for another anytime soon. Tiger used his website to explain why he is pulling out of the big tournament at the last minute.
“While I continue to work hard on getting healthy, I am not physically ready to play in this year’s U.S. Open and the Quicken Loans National. I am making progress, but I’m not yet ready for tournament competition,” Tiger explained via his website. The Quicken Loans National begins on June 20th, directly following the Open and Tiger does not anticipate teeing off in that tourney either. That’s a shame!
Tiger has struggled with health issues for years undergoing several surgeries. The big cat has had problems with everything from his knees, hips, neck, back and elbows over the last few years, says PGA.com. Yikes! Who knew golf was such a dangerous sport?
Tiger showed some gratitude to his fans for their support during his tough times, “I want to thank everyone for their continued support. The positive texts, emails and calls I have received have been incredible.” Ahh, Tiger, we hope you make it back to the links soon. Golf is not the same without him.
Even though he did not win, Tiger’s appearance in last year’s U.S. Open was rather entertaining. Who could forget the hilarious banner that flew over the golf course during his game? It is too bad he is not well enough to perform this year!
