Holla, holla! Welcome back, Teddy Long! The former General Manager of ‘SmackDown’ made a surprise return on WWE’s ‘Monday Night Raw’ on June 6. Does that mean he’s back in charge when ‘SmackDown’ goes live? Click to watch.
Hey, playa! Where you been, Teddy Long? The 68-year-old professional wrestling legend left the WWE Universe dancing in their seats when he made his return on WWE’s Raw. This was no social visit, as the man known for booking tag-team matches like crazy said he wanted his old job back!
Teddy came grooving out during the start of the June 6 episode of Monday Night Raw, right after the six men involved in the “Money In The Bank” match – Cesaro, 35, Sami Zayn, 31, Kevin Owens, 32, Dean Ambrose, 30, Alberto Del Rio, 39, and Chris Jericho, 45, – got into a huge brawl. “You see,” Teddy said, “I got the word that SmackDown is going live on Tuesdays.”
“You don’t even work here anymore, you stupid idiot,” Chris shouted at Teddy. “Not yet,” Teddy said. “You see, if I was in control and this was a live SmackDown, I’d take all you players and make a [no] Disqualification match, six-pack, Iron Man challenge match.” Uh, is that even a real thing, Teddy? Say what you will about him, he’s got quite the imagination.
Before Teddy could try and book something like a Fatal Four-Way Justin Bieber Pizza Party Tag-Team Hardcore Match, Stephanie McMahon, 39, came out to ask, “What are you doing here?” After Teddy repeated that he wanted his job back, Steph was stone-cold in turning him down, telling him to “get to steppin’.” She even denied him his entrance music! Harsh, Steph.
But, who’s going to run SmackDown? Steph and her brother, Shane McMahon, 46, have been co-running Raw ever since their father, Vince McMahon, 70, put them in charge. With SmackDown going live, Steph figured the show needed someone “intelligent, young, [and] smart” in charge, per 411 Wrestling. So, Stephanie decided she would run SmackDown! Teddy Long – denied!
Teddy is the latest Superstar to make an epic return to the WWE over the past month. Seth Rollins, 29, jumped Roman Reigns, 31 at the end of Extreme Rules, demanding he get his WWE Heavyweight Title back. John Cena, 39, made his grand return, following shoulder surgery, on the May 30 episode of Raw, just one week after Enzo Amore, 29, came back following his scary concussion at WWE’s Payback. Will another Superstar return when SmackDown goes live on the USA Network on July 19?
Who do you want to run SmackDown, HollywoodLifers? Teddy Long? Stephanie McMahon? Someone else?
