Fans thought they were in for a treat when Kanye West teased a surprise 2 a.m. concert in New York City June 5, but it was an epic fail after police refused to let him perform! The rapper’s wife, Kim Kardashian, was equally as disappointed, and apologized to fans for the change in plans on Snapchat. Watch here!
It was bad enough Kanye West‘s Governor’s Ball concert was cancelled on June 5, but his surprise show at Webster Hall was also cut shortly after just hours later! Like many fans, Kim Kardashian, 35, was bummed about the news, and apologized for the mix up, posting a sexy video in bed on Snapchat. Check it out here.
“Hi guys, we’re in bed. We tried, he tried so hard, but it was just bigger. The cops really wouldn’t allow it,” Kim told the camera, while lounging in bed. Kanye didn’t appear in the video, but that’s probably because he was super upset about the cancellation!
Following Governor’s Ball being cut short due to inclement weather, Kanye announced that he would be holding a 2 a.m. concert at New York’s Webster’s Hall, which would serve as an early birthday celebration for the rapper, who turns 39 on June 8. Fans definitely took his word for it, and thousands swarmed the small venue in anticipation for a concert! But, unfortunately, the police shut things down due to the overwhelming number of supporters. Yikes!
Kanye and Kim were devastated that the show couldn’t go on, but they had a pretty epic day despite the series of unfortunate events.
The Life of Pablo rapper ended up appearing at Hot97’s Summer Jam concert at the MetLife Stadium, where he joined members from his G.O.O.D. Music family, including Big Sean, 28, and DJ Khaled, 40, to perform a couple of his hit songs.
Governor’s Ball organizers cancelled the final day of the music festival due to inclement weather in the New York area. After monitoring the condition for several hours, officials announced the sad news around noon on June 5. “Due to severe weather & likelihood of lightning in the area, GOVBALLNYC is officially cancelled for DAY 3,” the announcement read on the official, festival Twitter account.
Kanye was the headlining performance for the festival, with acts from Chvrhes, Death Cab for Cutie, and more also set to perform. So sad!
