Never fear, Richard Simmons fans — he’s totally fine! Following an overnight stay in a Los Angeles hospital, the fitness guru’s rep has weighted in on his condition. See the statement right here!
Richard Simmons is okay after all! After being hospitalized on June 3, fans were concerned about the 67-year-old fitness star’s condition even though he was released just one day later. But amidst the worry, Richard’s rep Tom Estey declared that there’s nothing to worry about when it comes to the Richard’s health!
“He’s just fine,” Tom simply stated in an email to USA Today. Tom also mentioned that Richard is no longer in the hospital as of the afternoon of June 5. Phew!
Richard was brought to Cedars-Sinai hospital in Los Angeles on June 3 when his housekeeper called 911 after Richard became incoherent and displayed “bizarre conduct.” He received an onsite evaluation from paramedics who then determined that Richard should go to the hospital for a further medical evaluation as he may have suffered a stroke.
Fortunately because Richard was released from the hospital on June 4, just one day after being admitted, it seems a stroke wasn’t the cause for his unusual behavior. It’s still unclear what did result in Richard’s strange conduct, but Tom’s announcement is reassuring that it wasn’t as serious as it seemed!
While Richard has yet to comment on his hospitalization himself, it may only be a matter of time before we do hear something from the fitness instructor. He has remained out of the public eye since 2014 (after 40 years of being in it), but when some of his friends alleged in March that his housekeeper had been keeping him hostage in his LA home, Richard almost immediately chimed in. In his statement, he declared that no one should be worried about him — and it seems the same goes for now, even despite his minor health scare!
