This is so sad. Johnny Karagiorgis, otherwise known as ‘The Greek’ on ‘Real Housewives of New Jersey,’ suddenly died from a heart attack on June 4. With such a big personality, he will surely be missed.
Real Housewives of New Jersey fans and cast members alike are mourning the loss of Johnny Karagiorgis, who passed away due to a heart attack in the evening of June 4. Although he and his wife haven’t appeared on the show for three years, his big heart made him a beloved character during his time on RHONJ. May he rest in peace.
News of Johnny’s sudden passing first broke when AllAboutTRH.com reported that he was dead on June 5. RHONJ insiders told the site that Johnny suffered a heart attack on June 4 that unfortunately ended up taking his life. No further details have been released, and it’s unclear if Johnny had any known heart issues prior to his heart attack.
Confirming Johnny’s heartbreaking death, one of his close pals Dave Paladino posted a tribute to his late friend on Instagram. “Devastating!! Lost a good friend tonight!” he captioned the tribute photo. “Johny The Greek @johnnythegrk rest well my friend #RIP #friend.”
Johnny appeared on RHONJ in 2013, as he owned the salon that Teresa Giudice and Kim DePaola frequently visited. Given the nickname “The Greek,” Johnny and his wife Penny Karagiorgis didn’t last on the show long because of a brutal brawl he had with Joe Gorga over comments he made about Melissa Gorga. Their fight never aired on the show, but it did result in a lawsuit against Joe as well as Chris and Jacqueline Laurita. Johnny and Penny never appeared on the show after filing the lawsuit, and Johnny maintained a fairly low profile up until his death — other than some strong campaigning for Donald Trump on Twitter.
Johnny is survived by Penny and their son Niko. Our thoughts go out to Johnny’s family, friends, and RHONJ costars during this extremely difficult time.
