National treasure Jack Black is blessedly alive after, Tenacious D shockingly tweeted that the actor/musician had died. The band explained the fake-out through another tweet. Click through for their explanation!
After a barrage of sudden, unexpected celebrity deaths in 2016, fans were devastated to see the (debunked) news that Jack Black, 46, had also passed away on June 4. Luckily, the statement that came straight from his band Tenacious D’s Twitter account was 100% untrue, but everyone wanted to know why Jack and best bud Kyle Gass, 55, would tweet something so horrific! Read their explanation after the jump.
Okay everybody; don’t attack Kage and JB! They didn’t post the tweet as a joke — some awful person hacked their Twitter account and tried to make the world believe that the beloved entertainer was gone forever. Not. Okay. “WE had our Twitter account hacked. We can assure you that Jack is ALIVE and WELL and that this was a sick ‘prank,'” The D tweeted.
Whoever did this, you’re a sick person! After a year only six months in, that’s full of too many celebrity deaths to count, it was completely plausible to think that Jack might also have died. The School of Rock and Kung Fu Panda star could have joined the likes of Muhammad Ali, David Bowie and Prince, who all tragically died in the first few months of 2016. Thank god he didn’t!
The disgusting death hoax came in the form of a tweet on Tenacious D’s account that read, “I’m sad to officially annouce the death of Jack Black at the age of 46, rest in peace brother.” Omg! Then, Tenacious D, who have been together for 25 years, sent two more tweets: “
#RipJackBlack” and “It is with a heavy heart I am to announce that Jack Black passed away last night at 3:37am. The cause of death is yet unknown.” Oh god! We’re so glad that JB and KG cleared up this mess!
