1. She’s from Venezuela!
That’s right! She may represent Spain, but Garbine actually hails from Caracas, Venezuela. Her father is Basque, Spanish, while her mom is Venezuelan. She moved to Spain when she was 6, after first picking up a tennis racket aged 3!
2. She’s super-tall!
That’s why she’s so powerful on court and could dominate Serena like she did! Garbine stands at 6ft tall, which means she’s a strong server, as well as a very useful returner.
3. She’s highly ranked!
She’s going places! Going into the French Open this year, Garbine was ranked second in the world, which at her tender age shows the girl has promise. It won’t be long before she’s number one!
