The boxing world has been absolutely rocked by the news of Muhammad Ali’s death, and in a short-but-sweet statement, Manny Pacquiao has summed up everything the legendary fighter meant to the community. Read his message here.
Muhammad Ali will always be remembered as one of the greatest boxers of all time, and the news of his sad death on June 3 has obviously deeply affected those in his industry. Among others, Manny Pacquiao, 37, released a touching statement to remember the champ after his death.
“We lost a giant today,” Manny said. “Boxing benefited from Muhammad Ali’s talents but not nearly as much as mankind benefited from his humanity. Our hearts and prayers go out to the Ali family. God bless them.”
Muhammad sadly died on June 3 at the age of 74, just one day after it was revealed that he’d been admitted to a Phoenix hospital for a respiratory infection. Although his condition was originally listed as fair, his health quickly deteriorated, and his rep confirmed the tragic news of his death late Friday night.
Obviously, Manny isn’t the only boxer to mourn this horrible loss — Floyd Mayweather also shared his sentiments with a beautiful Instagram message. Those two have had their fair share of fighting words for one another in the past, but Floyd was nothing but sentimental and sweet in his tribute.
Muhammad had an illustrious career before he was forced to retire, and besides just his skill in the ring, he also had a way with words. His famous trash talking and inspirational sayings will live on forever, along with his incredible legacy. We are so heartbroken over his passing.
