Not just for a boho look, braided updos can be totally chic for a wedding day hairstyle. Whether you’re the bride-to-be or a wedding guest, we’ve got the breakdown on the perfect braided updo, ahead.
We’re used to seeing braided hairstyles on the festival circuit, but at the Lela Rose bridal show, hairstylist Jennifer Yepez came up with the perfect polished style. Dividing the hair into four clean braids and joining them in a knot at the nape of the neck, the style is so sophisticated, even celebs like Emma Roberts have tried similar looks for over-the-top events like the Met Gala.
To get the look, Jennifer added texture to the hair while it was still damp by applying Macadamia Professional Texturizing Salt Spray and Macadamia Professional Foaming Volumizer. After rough drying the hair, Jennifer applied the Macadamia Professional Tousled Texture Finishing Spray through the hair for even more grip for the braids.
Before braiding, Jennifer parted the models’ hair down the middle and separated into three sections — two at the front of the head on each side and one behind the head.
Starting with the front sections, Jennifer braided the hair in a classic three-strand braid from top to bottom, securing with an elastic. After braiding the other side, Jennifer moved to the back section, dividing it into two pieces.
For the back two sections, Jennifer once again braided and secured with an elastic before wrapping the two sections into a loose bun at the nape of the neck and pinning into place. Next, she took the sections at the front of the head, crossing them over one another at the back and pinning them to join the bun as well. To finish, Jennifer sprayed the hair with Macadamia Professional Flex Hold Shaping Spray.
