And so it begins. Just days after being indicted on child pornography charges, actor Mark Salling has been released from his role in the upcoming film, ‘Gods and Secrets.’
Mark Salling, 33, currently faces up to 20 years in prison for the two counts of child pornography he’s been indicted with. Due to this upsetting news, the filmmakers behind Gods and Secrets have decided to drop Mark from the film — but wait until you hear what else they are doing.
Unfortunately for Mark Salling, the hits just keep on coming. Now that he is facing serious jail time after being indicted on not one, but TWO counts of child pornography, it looks like he is going to have a hard time working in Hollywood any time soon.
Mark was in the middle of filming scenes for his upcoming film, Gods and Secrets, in which he was playing the villain. However, due to his indictment charges, it appears the studio has decided to let him go, reports TMZ. Director Adi Shankar will reportedly be footing the bill for the reshoots once Mark is recast, which is incredibly generous of him and extremely telling of how quickly he wants Mark unattached from the project entirely.
It is also being reported that Adi will donate a percentage of the profits from Gods and Secrets to an organization for abused children. As for Mark? Well, he’s been radio silent — especially on social media. Mark’s last post was on April 16, and chances are he won’t be posting again any time soon.
Adi also released a statement regarding the changes to the project, in which he shared that he hopes Mark finds “peace” once he gets through the child pornography scandal, reports THR. The rest of his statement is below:
“Hopefully some good will come of all of this and I pray that when the dust has settled, the hyper-connectivity of the information age that has brought to light the transgressions of several public figures, will also force us to look within our society to identify and eliminate the root cause of the rape culture we exist in.“
