Alright, we’ve met the guys and they did their best at making good first impressions — but what now? Oh yeah, the ridiculous group dates of course.
JoJo Fletcher started this week of The Bachelorette with 20 super attractive men; seriously, even if you’re not feeling them all, you have to admit that for the most part, this is one good looking group. So this week will consist of two group dates and a one-on-one date; oh and Chad Johnson (not Ochocinco) becoming the villain pretty quickly.
Chad started the night off with quit the tone during a host: “To a beautiful girl, a beautiful life, f– k all you guys, I’m gonna make her my wife.” Following that Chris Harrison brought in the first group date card for Luke, Grant, Will, Evan, Daniel, Vinny, Ali, James F. Wells and Robby. During the date with “the B team,” as Chad put it, the guys had to do some serious firefighting drills. Wells definitely had a tough time, and who can blame him! He clearly wasn’t trained for this and was about to faint; however, it got him some one-on-one time with JoJo. I would have been pretty nervous if Grant hadn’t won since he’s an actual firefighter, and he got extra time with her for the W. During the
cocktail champagne hour, he also got quite the kiss. Luke showed his jealous side (it’s still early bro), but he still looked adorable and JoJo definitely saw that — he also got a kiss. But it was Wells who got the rose. (Pity!)
While the group was gone, Chad’s villain target enlarged while he did pull ups after pinning a suitcase to his belt. Additionally, he bashed the guys for singing about a girl they just met. Later, he also joked about the men being protein shakes (?) and formed a bromance with Daniel. Anyone uncomfortable yet? Just wait.
Derek got the first one-on-one date of the season and they headed to the Golden Gate bridge in San Francisco — I’m making this one brief because well, it was a little blah. But he got a rose.
The next group date was at ESPN’s SportsNation and the guys had to actually fake propose; all of the men said all these sweet things to her in their speeches, but Chad left all that out. When she complained about it, he called her “naggy.” At the “press conference” part of the date, all the guys called him out — but (sorry not sorry), he actually made a point. He said that he couldn’t sit there and say all these things he loved about her because he didn’t know her yet. He pointed out that he’s not an actor and that yes, she’s beautiful, but he couldn’t yet name all these things yet. Granted, his approach wasn’t the greatest.
When it came down to rate the guys, the hosts put Chad in second place and James in first. The tensions continued after the date, but his soft side once again came out with JoJo, and he talked about his mom’s passing and his little tiny dog! But it was James who got the rose (even though Chad and James both got a kiss!).
Before the final cocktail hour, Chad actually met her outside (with a glass of wine for her!), to chat for a minute and steal a kiss! He ate a lot, but it was interrupting both Alex and Evan’s one-on-one time with JoJo that set the men off even more. When Alex told him to knock it off, he threatened to knock his teeth out. Yikes!
So, who went home? Well after what seemed like the longest rose ceremony ever, Chad did stay — he got the last rose. He also said that if he hadn’t received a rose, he would have called her out and say “bulls-it, I know you like me.” So hot.
James S., Will, and Brandon were all sent home. Do you think she should have sent Chad home? Let us know!
