This is so scary. Soccer star Alan Pulido has been kidnapped in the northern border state of Tamaulipas, Mexico according to a new report. The striker, who plays his soccer in Greece, was leaving a party before he was snatched on May 29.
What is going on? Mexican soccer star Alan Pulido, a striker for Greek giants Olympiakos and the Mexican national team, has been reportedly kidnapped in Tamaulipas, Mexico after leaving a party with his girlfriend on May 29, according to a shocking report that cites a state official.
Alan was said to have been kidnapped near his home in Ciudad Victoria, but details of who is responsible are sketchy to say the least, says Associated Press.
We hope the pacy striker, who scored 6 goals in 15 games for Olympiakos this season and has represented Mexico 6 times, scoring 4 goals, is ok. This just seems so senseless, and the motives for his disappearance just aren’t clear either.
The report says that 6 masked men grabbed Alan when he was walking with his girlfriend in a car park by force and bundled him into a vehicle. His girlfriend was unharmed, so it’s clear that Alan was definitely targeted here. But other reports say their car was surrounded by several trucks before Alan was snatched, which sounds absolutely frightening.
Kidnapping is rife in Mexico, with official government figures stating that 1,000 people are taken every year. It’s the highest rate in the world, and many believe that figure isn’t completely accurate and there could be a lot more.
As for Tamaulipas, it’s recognized as one of the most violent places in Mexico, so we hope for Alan’s safe he’s ok and he’s returned safely.
*UPDATE* Mexican State Prosecutor confirmed to Associated Press that armed men kidnapped Alan.
