Fetty Wap is KILLING it again with his amazing new music video for ‘Wake Up.’ Set at his old high school, Fetty becomes the king of the hallways. Click through to watch!
Leave it to Fetty Wap to make high school cool. The rapper returned to Eastside High School in Paterson, New Jersey, and filmed an ode to his alma mater. While Fetty’s true to his school, he revised history just a little bit to fit the narrative of his amazing song. Click through to see his wild music video!
The video shot at Eastside High is especially significant because Fetty never graduated from high school. He’s reclaiming the campus for his own, and going back to his hometown to show them what he became anyway! The video opened with a message from Fetty: “I went back to my old high school to shoot this video. A nobody, high school dropout now known worldwide as Fetty Wap. Celebrate every day, roll something up and define your own path.”
Damn! So it must have been weird for Fetty to be back in the Eastside halls, but he turned that school into an epic party! We love how creative this video is. It’s accented by cool animated drawings that look like they’re from some student’s notebook; it allows Fetty to get away with a lot that they probably couldn’t on school grounds — like smoking joints and drinking 40s. Well played, guys!
Fetty looks so confident as he strolls through the halls, singing about how he didn’t really care about struggling in school, just about wanting to chill and get high. And now, his mom is on his back to be educated and stay straight so his son can look up to him. There was no better place to sing about this than at the place that inspired it!
Fetty is doing pretty well for himself right now, there’s no debate about that. He one big at the Billboard Music Awards on May 22, taking home the award for Top New Artist. He also rocked the iHeartRadio stage with a bangin performance of “Again.” He’s untouchable right now!
