As a runway model and Victoria’s Secret girl, Gigi Hadid, 21, has one of the most enviable bodies around. But the super fit model works hard for her toned stomach, telling US Weekly in their June 6 Best Bodies issue why boxing is her workout of choice.
“It’s my new obsession,” she told US. “[The boxing ring] is like my second home in New York. It’s not just like going to the gym and working to work out, because that gets so boring to me,” she went on to say. “It’s something I can get better at, and that’s why I like it.
Gigi’s boxing ring of choice is Gotham Gym in NYC, where she trains with owner Rob Piela. Keeping her core engaged as she throws and ducks punches while dancing around the ring helps Gigi to burn more calories.
But you don’t have to have your own personal trainer to get in on the boxing benefits. Gyms like Gotham, Shadow Box and Church Street Boxing Gym offer group sessions where you can learn all of the basics while getting in your cardio and breaking a sweat.
Not just for the boys, Gigi is just one of a whole crew of celebs that swear by the high-intensity workout. Fellow Victoria’s Secret girls Adriana Lima and Doutzen Kroes are big boxing fans, with Adriana frequently posting clips of her workout on her Instagram. And actresses like Shay Mitchell and Ashley Benson have taken to the ring to get toned, too.
