Nyle DiMarco brought us to tears multiple times through the season of ‘DWTS,’ and after the finale, he touched us again by thanking the deaf community — and explaining that they are why he did this.
Nyle DiMarco and Peta Murgatroyd blew us away week after week, and really deserved the mirror ball on season 22 of Dancing with the Stars! The model, 27, chatted with us after the May 24 finale, revealing that while yes, he needs a vacation, he feels that his whole life has been changed by the show — and in turn, he hopes to change others’.
“You know the one thing I can point out is this is for the seventy million deaf people in this world, that is why I am here,” Nyle told reporters, including HollywoodLife.com after the finale. “They are the reason and they are the reason I did so well every week! They really gave me that inspiration every week. I am really glad and thankful for them.”
Nyle, who rose to fame after winning America’s Next Top Model, was thrilled he could really teach the world more about the deaf community.”It means that barriers can be broken! Even though their are barriers there, it doesn’t mean you can’t break them. You just have to work twice as hard, set those goals and break those barriers,” he raved. “Opportunities are endless!”
He also plans on putting his mirror ball “somewhere special,” after he gets home from vacation! “The past three months have been a lot of work and we need a vacation,” he said. Of course, Peta couldn’t have been more proud — and actually felt like him being her partner was the real prize of the entire experience.
“This is so mind blowing, we are in complete shock,” she told reporters. “I’m so proud of him, it isn’t about the trophy in the end, that was the cherry on top! It was the experience, the three months spent, the time and the friendship, everything that I have learned from this special individual I think I will take these memories with me forever, I will never forget this accomplishment and his passion!”
Are you happy that Nyle and Peta took home the trophy?
