The season 22 finale of Dancing with the Stars has come and gone and we were sad to see this season end but so excited to see the newest owners of the Mirrorball trophy!
Who Won Dancing With The Stars 2016? — New Winner Is Crowned
All of the couples from this season returned — Real Housewives star Kim Fields and partner Sasha Farber, Doug Flutie and Karina Smirnoff, Jodie Sweetin and Keo Motsepe, Geraldo Rivera and Edyta Sliwinska, Donald Trump‘s ex wife Marla Maples and Tony Dovolani, Boyz II Men member Wanya Morris and Lindsay Arnold — in a rousing opening number that was amazing!
For the first live performance of the night, Fleur East sang while Kim and Sasha danced — and it was amazing!
Then, we took a look back at some of the most memorable moments of the season, the good and the bad!
Next, we got an encore performance of Paige & Mark’s Paso Doble from the Most Memorable Year episode!
Then, Nyle and Peta danced their Cha Cha from week one! (Which was good enough for me to say they should win after the first episode!)
Next, Val and Ginger did their perfect-scoring Argentine Tango from earlier in the season.
After Antonio and Sharna did an encore of their Disney night dance, Val and Maks Chmerkovskiy did a little preview of their summer tour: Maks & Val Live On Tour: Our Way.
‘DWTS’ Finale — More Amazing Moments & Performances
Jodie and Keo encored their super fun Gospel-inspired jive. Then, Dan + Shay gave a heartfelt performance as Witney and Artem danced a romantic routine.
Wanya & Lindsay’s encore Charleston really made me sad that they were not in the final three! Then, Pitbull performed “Messin’ Around,” surrounded by some sexy ladies, and sort of admitted he was going to be a judge next season?
24 Hour Fusion Challenge — One More Shot For Glory
Finalists Paige VanZant, 22, and partner Mark Ballas, Ginger Zee, 35, and pro Val Chmerkovskiy, and Nyle DiMarco, 27, and partner Peta Murgatroyd all danced one more time in a 24 hour fusion challenge that they only had one night to learn!
First, Ginger and Val danced an Argentine Tango/ Foxtrot fusion. “You’ve grown and you’ve flown. You got better and better week [after] week,” Len said. Bruno said she attacked the dance like a hurricane but “something went wrong.” (I actually didn’t even notice the mistake — I thought it was part of the routine.) Carrie Ann said, “You are a beautiful ballroom dancer.” They got a 27! Dance the pounds away by shopping ‘DWTS’ DVDs right here on Amazon!
Next, Nyle and Peta danced a Cha Cha / Tango fusion. It was such a happy, carefree dance and yet it had me in tears! Actually, hysterically crying — I love them! “That was glorious in every possible way,” Bruno said, adding: “Nyle, you have exceeded expectations every time. Regardless of what happens, to me, you are a champion.” Carrie Ann said to him IN SIGN LANGUAGE: “Thank you for showing us your beautiful heart when you dance,” and Nyle completely broke down. “You deserve to be in this final,” Len said. They got a perfect score of 30!
Finally, Paige and Mark danced a Jive / Salsa fusion. “You have set the standard since the beginning and you continue to set the standard,” Carrie Ann said. Len said if it’s based purely on dance, she’s the one to beat. They also got a perfect 30!
At the end of the night, Aloe Blacc performed “Let The Games Begin” as we watched a montage of moments from the season.
Finally, the results! Val and Ginger got third. Mark and Paige got second.
