Alisan Porter ‘Totally At Peace’ After 8 Years Of Sobriety — I’d Never ‘Jeopardize That’

Being on 'The Voice' has been quite a journey for Alisan Porter, but it's far from the hardest obstacle she's ever faced in her life. “It’s a very personal thing how you find the strength and the will to be sober,” Alisan tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY. “At this point, I have a super strong connection with my higher power, which is sometimes the moon, sometimes the ocean, and sometimes it is God, or whatever God is to me. I am only here because I decided to stop using and I am not about to jeopardize that at this point.”

But that doesn’t mean the 34-year-old doesn’t know how to have fun when she’s out with others who might be under the influence! “I love hanging out with people who are drinking and partying is the greatest!” she adds. “I am totally at peace with all of that. I am fine with my cranberry and soda with a splash of lime, so I am good to go. I can get crazy, too!”

Alisan and her fellow finalists, Laith Al-Saadi, Adam Wakefield and Hannah Huston, each performed three times on Part 1 of The Voice finale May 23, and after a jam-packed show, they’ll find out who wins by the end of the May 24 episode. Regardless of what happens, though, she can safely say she made her coach, Christina Aguilera, extremely proud.

“What she’s doing on the show, even tonight, I’m so moved and dumbfounded by her talent,” Xtina told HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY. “She has such a gift and I’m just so happy to be in her presence and as her coach supporting her.” What a team these two make!
