That’s gonna leave a mark! Ryan Vogelsong, pitcher for the Pittsburgh Pirates was carted off the field during the second inning of the Pirates and Rockies game on May 23, after being smakcked in the face by a wild pitch. See the shocking video below!
Yikes! Baseball is no joke! A lesson that Pittsburgh Pirates Pitcher Ryan Vogelsong learned all too well after being hit in the head by a baseball on May 23 in the second inning of a game against the Colorado Rockies. Ryan was instantly knocked to the ground from the blow, and is seen clutching his face in pure agony. He definitely took one for the team!
It was not a good day on the field for Ryan. The pitcher was hit in the head by a rogue pitch, and was down for quite a bit before help arrived to cart him off the field. In the video, you can see the player get hit and do a full circle before falling to the ground. Luckily, there is no blood on camera, but you can tell he was in a lot of pain.
At one point, once he is finally standing again, the camera’s pan to his face and there are tears in his eyes. Tears — that’s it! He didn’t even start bawling from his pain, just a couple of loose tears. We don’t know about you, but we would have been in a fit of hysterics. What a champ!
Baseballs are seriously hard and some of them can get up to 80 mph! So he is definitely going to be feeling the effects of that for a while. “Ryan Vogelsong has been admitted to AGH and is being evaluated. We will have more details tomorrow,”the team said in a statement on twitter.
We’re hoping for a speedy recovery, and that the injury isn’t too debilitating. After all, it’s only the beginning of baseball season, and it would be awful if Ryan couldn’t play! We’re looking towards the best for him and the team. Get better soon, Ryan!
