This is absolutely terrible! Elijah Wood has revealed that horrific acts go on behind the scenes in Hollywood — specifically towards children and their exploitation. And being a child star himself, the ‘Lord Of The Rings’ actor even claimed that a massive pedophilia epidemic is occurring!
Elijah Wood, 35, took his first film role at age eight before going on to star in the Lord of the Rings movies. But although he was protected as a child, the actor made explosive allegations in an extensive interview that Hollywood is in the midst of a child sexual abuse epidemic! With powerful industry figures abusing child actors, Elijah claimed that organized sexual assault in Hollywood is overwhelming and extremely prominent. Talk about heartbreaking!
“Clearly something major was going on in Hollywood,” Elijah revealed to the Sunday Times during an interview to promote his latest film, The Trust. “It was all organized. There are a lot of vipers in this industry, people who only have their own interests in mind. There is darkness in the underbelly — if you can imagine it, it’s probably happened.”
Lucky for Elijah, he was able to avoid the “underbelly” as a child thanks to his loving and protective mother who was “far more concerned with raising me to be a good human than facilitating my career.” Elijah continued that he never went to parties where “that kind of stuff was going on.” But according to him, the “bizarre” industry presents many paths to “temptation.” “If you don’t have some kind of foundation, typically from family, then it will be difficult to deal with,” he said.
And apparently this is NOT a problem of the past. When asked if he thinks sex crimes are still an issue in Hollywood, Elijah revealed that yes, these things are most likely still prevalent. “From my reading and research, I’ve been led down dark paths to realize that these things probably are still happening,” he said. “If you’re innocent, you have very little knowledge of the world and you want to succeed, people with parasitic interests will see you as their prey.”
Talk about an absolutely heartrending cycle! “What upsets me about these situations is that the victims can’t speak as loudly as the people in power,” Elijah commented. “There’s the tragedy of attempting to reveal what is happening to innocent people: They can be squashed, but their lives have been irreparably damaged.”
And Elijah is definitely not wrong. After all, many actors have come forward, saying that they were abused as children in the industry: Mike Tyson, Ruby Rose, Ashley Judd, and Padma Lakshmi, just to name a few. Today, Bizparentz, a group founded to help child actors, claims around 100 active abusers are currently being sheltered by Hollywood, and says a “tsunami” of cases is pending.
What do you think about Elijah’s powerful message, HollywoodLifers?
