Oh snap! Just minutes after Madonna and Stevie Wonder took the stage at the Billboard Music Awards on May 22, for what we thought was an excellent tribute to Prince, the BET Awards dissed them hard. In fact, the network said they have something much better coming June 26. Watch!
We actually loved Madonna and Stevie Wonder‘s tribute to Prince at the Billboard Music Awards on May 22, but the BET Awards thought it was lame. In fact, immediately after the performance, the network used Twitter to tell their fans not to “worry” because they have something much better in store for the June 26 ceremony. Ouch!
Just 18 minutes after the east coast airing of the Billboard Music Awards wrapped, the BET Awards tweeted out the following message in a video, promoting an upcoming Prince tribute at their 2016 show: “Yeah, we saw that. Don’t worry. We Got You.” So the network is pretty much telling viewers not to “worry” about how bad that tribute was because they “got you” and they have something much better in store.
That’s a pretty bold statement, considering Madonna and Stevie Wonder are both huge legends. Unless they literally have a Prince hologram performing at the BET Awards on June 26, then we think it’s going to be hard for them to top what the BBMAs presented.

Either way, we love Prince and any tribute is great in our eyes. In fact, we might have a hard time not rewatching Madonna and Stevie sing Sinead O’Connor‘s “Nothing Compares To You,” which was written by Prince, and “Purple Rain.”
