The Kelly File‘s Megyn Kelly, 45, has been a Fox News anchor for years, but she’s come into the spotlight during the 2016 presidential race for sparring with GOP candidate Donald Trump, 69. After a tense presidential debate in August 2015, Trump got his feelings hurt by Megyn’s hard line of questioning, and a massive feud was sparked. 1. She was a lawyer before becoming a journalist
Kelly obtained a J.D. from Albany Law School in 1995, and joined the Chicago office of the law firm Bickel & Brewer LLP as an associate after graduate. At the firm, she co-wrote an article called “The Conflicting Roles of Lawyer as Director” for the American Bar Association’s journal, Litigation. She then worked for Jones Day for nine years.
2. She switched over to journalism in 2003
Megyn moved to Washington, DC, in 2003 and changed careers. She joined local ABC news station WJLA-TV as a general assignment reporter.
3. She was a Fox News contributor before getting her own show
Megyn worked her way up in Fox News, contributing to Special Report with Brit Hume and hosted a legal segment, Kelly’s Court, during Weekend Live. She also appeared on The O’Reilly Factor, as a guest panelist on Red Eye w/ Greg Gutfeld, and sometimes filled in for Greta Van Susteren on On the Record.
4. She was upgraded to hosting her own show in 2010
Megyn began hosting the popular two-hour show America Live in February 2010. After leaving America Live in 2013 on maternity leave, she returned to the network later the same year and began hosting The Kelly File. For quite some time, it was the highest-rated show on a cable news network!
5. She’s written a memoir
Megyn’s had such a wild life (including the year spent dealing with Trump), that she’s completed a memoir called “Settle for More”. It’s due out sometime in 2016.
