Whoa! Azealia Banks might have had a change of heart. The infamous rapper issued an apology on Instagram to the entire world for her awful rant on Twitter — but does anyone accept her apology?
Azealia Banks, 24, is doing some major damage control. Now that the publicity from her racist rant about Zayn Malik, 23, has worn off, the rapper has expressed her “sincerest apologies” in a statement on Instagram. Check out what she had to say!
“I’ve had some time to decompress & take a more rational assessment of things. I want to extend my sincerest apologies to the world,” the “Big Big Beat” rapper addressed to not only Zayn, but the world.
Azealia also acknowledged that using racial slurs or derogatory language is incredibly offensive. “Employing racial/sexual slurs/stereotypes in attempts to make fun of or degrade another person or group is absolutely unacceptable and is not fair or fun for anyone,” she continued. “Allowing my anger to get the best of me, I’ve managed to insult millions of people without reason. And for that I give my deepest apologies.”
The comments below the Insta-image revealed a lot of mixed feelings from her fans and followers, many of which weren’t sure if they’re willing to accept her apology just yet. And that’s probably because her comments were SO hurtful.
Azealia directed a series of nasty tweets at the “Pillow Talk” singer on May 10, after he confronted her about a comment she made about him on Instagram. Azealia was claiming that Zayn had copied her music videos, and when he tweeted comments that seemed to be directed at her, she went completely insane. The rapper used a number of racial slurs aimed a Zayn’s English-Pakistani background and homophobic remarks. Terrible!
Although this rant was way over the line, this isn’t even the first time Azealia has been in the hot seat for her insensitivity. Only a few days earlier, the rapper insulted fourteen-year-old, Disney star Skai Jackson. “Ur mom’s been pimping you out to disney since you were a lil girl. lets see what you end up like at 21. bye !” Azealia tweeted.
But because of her hot temper, the “ATM Jam” rapper did reap the consequences. She was dropped from her headlining spot on the Born & Bred Festival and her Twitter account has been suspended. This might not have won the world over, but it’s probably a start in the right direction.
HollywoodLifers, do you think Azealia deserves a second chance or are you not ready to forgive and forget?
