Nina Dobrev will be back on ‘The Vampire Diaries,’ and it could happen sooner rather than later. After that surprising cameo in the season 7 finale, EP Julie Plec gives fans an update on another Nina return.
The TVD fandom misses you, Nina Dobrev! Executive producer Julie Plec, 43, reveals that Nina, 27, will reprise her role as Elena Gilbert for the series finale of the show, but there’s a possibility she could come back sooner. Delena fans, here’s the scoop you need to know!
Nina made a shocking cameo in The Vampire Diaries season 7 finale. She recorded her voice for the scene when Damon hears Elena’s voice in the vault. Julie is still staying that Nina will come back for the series finale, but things could definitely change.
“It’s what she and I kind of agreed on when she decided to move on, and it’s what I’ve got in my head,” Julie told our sister site TVLine. “Obviously things can change throughout time, if the show goes on longer than we expect it to, or if we all collectively decide it would be fun to bring her back earlier, and she wanted to. But in my opinion, she was very clear about what she wanted the next step in her life to be, and she’s doing a great job of achieving that. So I’m sticking with my side of the plan, which is to bring her back at the very end.”
We would love to see Nina return to the show before the series finale. But we’re just glad we’ll see Nina again on TVD. It’ll give fans such closure!
HollywoodLife.com told you EXCLUSIVELY back in April 2016 that Nina will definitely reprise her role for TVD’s final episodes. “When the show ends Nina will be a part of it some way shape or form,” a source told us. “She is 10,000 percent coming back.”
The Vampire Diaries has been renewed for season 8, but there’s no word yet on if it will be the last season. Ian Somerhalder shocked fans recently when he said the show’s eighth season would be his “last year.”
