Talk about a great husband! John Legend made it VERY clear that he doesn’t want his wife, Chrissy Teigen to have to ‘take it all’ when it comes to parent-shaming. And we totally applaud the singer for speaking out and putting Chrissy’s Internet haters to shame. You tell em, John!
Chrissy Teigen, 30, may have only become a mom just last month, but already she’s faced quite a lot of ridicule! From all corners of the Internet, people have been commenting on the model’s parenting skills and — hint — they are NOT being kind. But lucky for her, hubby John Legend, 37, is not about to let his wife get criticized alone. In fact, he even spoke out on social media, begging naysayers to be fair and attack HIM as well.
“Funny there’s no dad-shaming. When both of us go out to dinner, shame both of us so Chrissy doesn’t have to take it all. We’ll split it,” John tweeted on May 10 in response to remarks made by vicious online trolls who have been criticizing Chrissy’s parenting skills since baby Luna’s birth on April 14. We’re glad someone finally said it!
After all, it’s only fair that if people are going to blast Chrissy for having a date night soon after her daughter’s birth, then they also criticize John for doing the same thing, right? But let’s not get it twisted, we’re sure John doesn’t want ANYONE getting blamed, but if people ARE going to hate, at least do it to both parties involved.
Because let’s not forget that Chrissy was specifically called out on social media by fans implying she was a bad mother when she stepped out for dinner with John in late April. “I went to dinner. People are pissed. Good morning!” Chrissy reacted the following morning on Twitter. And let’s be real, clearly Chrissy is a fabulous mom! She even managed to breastfeed little Luna WHILE getting glammed up for a photoshoot. Now that’s dedication!
And parent-shaming just so happens to be a trending topic nowadays as Desi Lydic, a correspondent for The Daily Show, did an entire segment on “Momsplaining” — even brining up Chrissy and John’s situation. “You’re worried about the quality of John Legend and Chrissy Teigen’s child care?” the comedian said. “It’s not like they’re getting their nanny off Craigslist. They’re rich celebrities. They could get Mary Poppins to watch their baby, as in literally call Julie Andrews, get her to come out of retirement to babysit in character as Mary Poppins.” Pretty brilliant, right?
What do you think about John’s tweet, HollywoodLifers? Do you love that he stuck up for Chrissy like that?
