It’s almost time for someone to step in permanently for Michael Strahan on ‘Live’ — and Kelly Ripa knows that the search is on. So, what does she have to say about the rumors that it’s her BFF, Anderson Cooper?
Let’s be honest, no one will have what Kelly Ripa has with Michael Strahan — just like no one will have what she had with Regis Philbin. However, both of them surprised her with announcements that they were leaving: Michael in 2016, and Regis in 2011. So, could Anderson Cooper be next? In a brand new interview, Kelly Ripa is talking about those replacement rumors.
The search is on for a new sidekick for Kelly, 45, and People magazine’s new cover interview, she was of course asked about Anderson — and if he could be the missing link that will step in. “Stay tuned…,” she tells the mag — and they point out she also is wearing “a sheepish grin.” So, will it be him? Well, the host also chats about what exactly they need on the ABC morning show.
The search is “fun, but challenging,” she says. “Our show is one based on chemistry and camaraderie and trust. All those things don’t just happen; it doesn’t fall out of the sky. It takes a lot of work, and it takes a group discussion.” Well, it seems that since we all know she already has that rhythm with Anderson, it’d be a perfect fit, right?
“I love Kelly, and I think Kelly is the heart and soul of that show,” he said. “It’s gonna go on and continue to be great and I wish Michael the best in his new endeavor. Look, I’m very happy at CNN. It would be a dream to work with Kelly, but nobody’s offering anything!
Do you think Anderson should replace Michael, HollywoodLifers?
